The North Carolina Home Builders Association presented nearly 80 prestigious STARS awards at the annual STARS Awards Gala on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Omni Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, NC. The STARS Awards program honors the achievements of home building industry professionals from across North Carolina.

Winners receive recognition in areas such as marketing and advertising, web design, sales/information center, landscape design, interior merchandising, architecture/floor plan, remodeling/renovation and special projects. Awards are also given to local home builders associations.

The top awards of the evening recognized winners for both 2020 and 2021:

Sean Sullivan of Living Stone Design + Build in Asheville was named the 2021 Distinguished Builder Member of the Year. Sullivan is a member of the Asheville HBA.

Chad Collins of Collins Design-Build in Durham was named the 2020 Distinguished Builder Member of the Year. Collins is a member of the HBA of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties.

The 2021 Distinguished Associate Member of the Year Award went to Laura Sullivan of ID.ology Interiors and Design in Asheville. She is a member of the Asheville HBA.

The 2020 Distinguished Associate Member of the Year Award went to Meredith Oliver of Meredith Communications in Raleigh. She is a member of the HBA of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties and the HBA of Raleigh-Wake County.

Paul Kane, EO of the Raleigh-Wake HBA, was recognized as the 2021 Executive Officer of the Year.

Susan Black, EO of the Alamance-Caswell Builders Association, was recognized as the 2020 Executive Officer of the Year.

The 2021 New Executive Officer of the Year award recognized Megan Carroll of the Asheville HBA.

The 2020 New Executive Officer of the Year award recognized Darlene Saunders of the HBA of Winston-Salem.

The Builders Mutual Safety Program of the Year award recognized Buchanan Construction as its 2020 recipient and Red Tree Builders as its 2021 recipient. Both are members of the Asheville HBA.
