Two Students Awarded Scholarships
The North Carolina Home Builders Educational and Charitable Foundation recently awarded scholarships to family members of NCHBA members.
Joshua Avery – Joshua majors in Construction Management at East Carolina University. He is the son of Judy Avery, a member of the Craven/Pamlico HBA. He received a $3,000 scholarship.
Claire Folk – Claire majors in Civil Engineering at The University of South Carolina. She is the daughter of Chris Folk, who is a member of the HBA of Greater Charlotte. She was awarded $3,000 in scholarships, which includes a $500 scholarship from the NC Professional Women in Building.
Money is raised throughout the year to benefit these future leaders of the home building industry.
The largest fundraiser is the annual Builder Classic Golf Tournament, where our members come together to raise money for scholarships.
The deadline to apply for next year’s scholarships is April 30, 2019.
Applications are accepted each year starting in January. The foundation awards scholarships based on a combination of need and merit to four-year college students entering their junior or senior year and technical school students entering their second year who have declared their major in a construction related field.
